Important Purchases for Students
To be continually updated…
Here are links to some suggested products for the beginning violin student (though, be sure to check with your teacher first!):
- Summy-Birchard Suzuki Violin School Books. Suzuki Violin School, Violin Part, Books 1-10 available.
- Summy-Birchard Suzuki Violin School Compact Discs. Recordings of Suzuki Violin School repertoire, by David Nadien, David Cerone, Koji Toyoda, and Shinichi Suzuki. Voumes 1-8 available. Nadien recordings include piano accompaniment tracks.
- Metronomes and tuners are an investment that the student will use throughout their music career! They are indispensible tools for musical development and performance confidence! Here are just a few you can look into:
- Matrix MR500 Metronome. Simple digital metronome with A440 and stand; handy dial mechanism for selecting tempos. Very affordable.
- Matrix MR600 Metronome. Includes same features as above, but also includes volume control, optional chime accents on specific beats, and over 3 octaves of pitches… and, IMO, it looks purty!
- Wittner 6401 Metronome. This is an extremely popular model of traditional, pedulum-style metronomes. I don’t own one myself, but many I know have relied on this model.
- Of course, if all you need is a temporary metronome with A440 to use for free… *ahem* until you can get one of your own for use anywhere… Click Here to use a Free Online Metronome! You can even choose from three different background colors.
- Music stands are an important investment, preserving proper posture while easing the task of accurate music notation reading!
- Folding Music Stands (various). Lots of choices!!
- Manhasset MH48 Black “Symphony Stand”. An extremely popular music stand, used by students, amateurs, and professionals alike. Formal black, sturdy, has stood the test of time and has become a staple for any musician!
