Finally, now on YouTube, you can view Steve Zelt’s film, The Visit, in its entirety, with original music composed and performed by me and my good friend Danielle Cummins!

And, through my relationship with both Danielle and Steve, I met talented singer/songwriter Larry Enriquez and had the pleasure of improvising and recording violin parts for a good number of his original tunes. Well, later, we were able to make music videos of each of these tunes, so here is the first of those music videos (more to come later!). What a great experience!

The biggest news in my life currently is that, after a recent audition, I am now an official member of the Orange County Symphony! I am sincerely looking forward to growing under the current music director, and working with the orchestra on the fantastic selection of music they have planned for the coming year. Stay tuned for details on concerts as they come up!

In other (smaller) news, I have just signed on with a new database for composers and performers called MusMap.com. It is easy-to-use, a great tool for searching out musicians for your events and other needs, and a great place for networking with fellow professionals. View my composer’s profile and find all sorts of info about me, including some of my works with program notes and sound samples. Hooray for Marissa John, who placed Second, and for Sharon Tang, who placed Third in the ASTA Recital/Competition this past Saturday!!!

Congratulations and good luck to two of my students, Marissa John and Sharon Tang, who will be performing at the ASTA 43rd Annual Bowed Strings Solo Recital/Competition this Saturday! Both students have prepared the first movement of Vivaldi’s Concerto in A Minor, and will be accompanied by Nico Maracut.

You have both worked hard, and I hope you will enjoy this new experience!

April 11, Noon: Performance on Baroque violin with CGU’s early music ensemble, Collegium Musicum! Where?: Balch Auditorium, Scripps College Campus. Admission?: FREE! Click here for more details.
April 12, 7pm: Solo performance for Claremont Community School of Music’s faculty recital. Accompanied by pianist, Nico Maracut. Also joining us in performance will be the lovely soprano, Christina Linton! Where?: André Watts Recital Hall. Admission?: FREE! (Donations toward the school accepted.) Click here for more details.
April 13, 5pm: Duo performance on both acoustic and six-string electric violins with New Age pianist/composer, Denise Young! Where?: Soul At Home, Tustin. Admission?: FREE!
May 11, 3pm: CGU student recital for pianist Brigitte Garney. My part of the program will include a performance of Igor Stravinsky’s Suite from L’Histoire du Soldat, for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano. Should be a lot of fun! Where?: Boone Recital Hall, Scripps Colllege Campus. Admission?: FREE!
May 18, 3pm: Concert with the Claremont Winds, featuring tuba soloist Lyndsey Hoh, winner of the Young Artists Scholarship Competition. I’ll be joining them on percussion and piano! Where?: Mudd Theater. Admission: FREE!
June 8, 9:30am: Denise Young and I will be presenting two tunes as part of the morning worship service for First Presbyterian Church of Garden Grove! Admission?: FREE!
July 26, 4pm: Full concert with Denise Young at First Presbyterian Church of Garden Grove! More details to come…
