An Amazing Realization

Hey, get this:

Today is the 59th anniversary of the world premiere of “The Dirge” - the fourth section from Lenny Bernstein’s “Age of Anxiety” Symphony (that’s Symphony No. 2 for piano and orchestra, based on W. H. Auden’s 1946 poem by the same name). This partial premiere was given on Nov. 28, 1948, and was included in a fund-raising concert in Tel Aviv (Israel) held to mark the first anniversary of the UN partition resolution which had legitimized Israel’s claim to indepenedence.

I just realized this as I was working on my school paper - How cool is that?!
